# Upload Supporting Documents for Underwriting

> Upload the documents Masterpiece Labs requests to underwrite your application; every file is virus scanned before it counts.

Masterpiece Labs needs a document packet to underwrite your application. The app tells you which documents to upload; typical items include formation documents, recent financials, and the buyer contract or purchase order behind the invoice.

## How uploads work

Files upload directly from your browser to Masterpiece Labs's private storage using short-lived presigned URLs. Masterpiece Labs never proxies your file bytes through its API.

Every upload is scanned for malware before it counts as committed. Until the scan finishes, your packet is not marked complete.

  Wait for the scan to finish before you close the tab. If you replace a document, the older version is superseded and the packet re-checks completeness.

## Replacing a document

Upload a new file for the same slot to supersede the prior one. Only the most recent successful upload is used for underwriting.

  The app will prompt you for each required document type. Do not upload arbitrary files; use the labelled slots so underwriting can find them.
