# How Masterpiece Labs Invoice Financing Works

> Masterpiece Labs advances a portion of your unpaid invoice and is repaid from the frontier lab's remittance through a bank account it controls.

Masterpiece Labs is invoice financing built for businesses billing frontier labs. Instead of waiting 30 to 90 days for a payment, you receive cash today and repay from that same lab's payment when it arrives.

## The mechanics

1. You have an unpaid invoice to a frontier lab.
2. Masterpiece Labs advances up to 70% of the invoice value.
3. The frontier lab pays into a Slash bank account that is subject to a DACA (Deposit Account Control Agreement) in Masterpiece Labs's favor.
4. Masterpiece Labs is repaid principal plus interest first, and the remainder is released to you.

## Terms and rates

You choose a term of 1, 2, or 3 months when you submit your loan request. Rates depend on the term you pick, which frontier lab is on the invoice, how much of the invoice you draw against, and whether your company is Y Combinator backed. See [Pricing](/reference/pricing) for the full rate card.

## Why the DACA matters

The DACA is what makes the advance repayable at low rates. It gives Masterpiece Labs control of the specific bank account the frontier lab will pay into, so its share is settled from the incoming remittance before any other draw. You continue to own the account and the customer relationship; Masterpiece Labs only exercises control if repayment is due.

## What you owe at the end

At the end of the term, you owe principal plus interest calculated from the monthly rate multiplied by the term length. If the frontier lab pays earlier, Masterpiece Labs settles from that payment as soon as it clears the DACA account.
